| How to Become a Member You need to attend meetings, successfully complete educational classes, participate in simulations and exercises, and sign the WASART volunteer contract and Code of Conduct. Membership forms are available below. Once your form is filled in, please send it via USPS mail or e-mail it to animalresponseteam@gmail.com. There are classes that must be completed before you can be deployed in a disaster. Many of these courses are free and can be completed on-line. Those that cannot be completed on-line will be taught on a revolving schedule through the year. Those volunteers who successfully complete any or all of the levels of training required for membership in WASART will be registered with the State Emergency Management Division and classified as Emergency Workers as codified in RCW 38.52.010. They will receive an identification card issued by the appropriate government agency, as well as an identification card issued by WASART. These identification cards must on the volunteer and be in plain view whenever WASART is activated in a disaster. If private cars, trucks and/or horse trailers are utilized by Level 3 volunteers when activated by a disaster, proof of current insurance for both driver(s) and vehicle must be on file with the Secretary. Such insurance is primary if an accident occurs or if damage is sustained to the vehicle or horse trailer. Note: Meetings are held quarterly on the 2nd Wednesday of the quarter. In 2008, those dates are September 10th and December 10th. In 2009, we will meet on March 11th, June 10th, September 9th, and December 9th. The meeting location is in the Community Meeting Room of the Key Bank, 1212 Cole Street, Enumclaw, WA 98022. The meetings commence at 7:00 p.m. and typically last an hour and one-half to two hours. Please call 360-886-7276 if you need additional information.
